| Pilrig House Apartments (1638) is an historic 17th-century Scottish townhouse, uniquely located in a tranquil park, yet it is only a 15-minute stroll to Edinburgh's city centre (5 mins by bus) and all the main attractions. The house has a fascinating history - it was once the home of Robert Louis Stevenson's mother's family and, as a child, RLS visited and played in the gardens here. He mentions Pilrig House in many of his novels, e.g. Kidnapped and Catriona.
