In the heart of the Old Town of Edinburgh is one of its most famous streets the Royal Mile. Filled with visitor attractions, from Edinburgh Castle at the top to Holyrood House at the bottom, there are many opportunities for sightseeing in between.
Perfectly placed for a break, for a quiet drink, superb lunch or dinner is the Royal McGregor on the High Street, Royal Mile. Open 7 days a week from 10am till 10pm, the classic Scottish hospitality and dishes on offer evoke all the culture, traditions, culinary expertise and historic style of the city.
A lovely environment simply for a drink of coffee as the perfect way to break up all the shopping and sights of the city, the Royal McGregor offers so much more for those who wish to sample some of Scotland's traditional dishes created from the freshest local produce.
From the main menu come starters such as the famous smoked haddock soup known as Cullen Skink, Haggis Fritters with Cranberry Sauce, and Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Terrine.
Continue the Scottish culinary tour with main courses such as Haggis, Neeps, and Tatties or Grilled Salmon Fillet and finish with Crannachan, a traditional Scottish dessert with whipped cream, mixed berries and whisky
Alternative dishes, continental and stateside options are available, from steaks and burgers to pasta and fish and chips. Choose a side dish to complement any meal, or from a range of warm filled baguettes, which are served until 5pm.
Why not start the day at the Royal McGregor with a traditional full cooked Scottish breakfast or perhaps something lighter like scrambled eggs on toast or French toast with Canadian maple syrup. Healthy breakfasting options are available too and a children's menu is available all day to satisfy the fussiest of eaters.
